We had a great time at the homecoming activities last week. We apprecaite the H.S. allowing us to come up for the pep rally. I know the kids enjoyed it.

Our football and volleyball teams both had success last week! We don't have very many students participating but they are having good time.

The seventh grade field trip to the Empower Plant in St. Joseph has been post-poned to October 15. The students will be placed in groups based upon an interest inventory then asked to plan and implement a community service project. Mr. Lewis is running this program through his 7th grade civics classes.

We are hosting a Red-Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday the 30th. Call Karissa Hall at 528-7736 to reserve your time between 3:00 and 7:00. We are almost full!

We won two football games last week, one game 2-0 and the other 48-0. 5th/6th grade team won this weekend as well. All three teams are unbeaten! Great job boys!

The volleyball girls opened up play this weekend in the West Platte Tournament. They played very hard and won some games. Most of the teams there had already played games and their experience showed.

The football teams play at home again Thursday starting at 5:00 and the volleyball teams play on Tuesday at North Platte at 4:30. Come out and support our kids!

Before our pep rally Wednesday, we had our PTO fundraiser kick-off. All of our kids are now out trying to sell cookie dough and other items to help support our academic needs.

The Middle School and the Elementary are sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, September 30th, from 3:00 – 7:00 in our Performing Arts Center. Please call Karissa Hall, the Elementary Nurse, at 528-7736 to set up a time to help save a life!

This week is our spirit week to go along with the high school homecoming. We have different dress-up days during the week and ending with us attending the Homecoming Pep Rally at the high school on Friday. We will eat lunch early and leave for the high school at 11:35. We will return to the middle school then walk up to the parade. If your child is going to participate in the parade, you will need to come in and sign him/her out of school.

Football Results 9/17

Seventh Grade boys won 2-0, yes 2. Just one lone safety scored in this game. At least it was by us. Our offense will need to improve but....

The 8th graders showed plenty of offense beating Mid-Buc by a score of 48-0 with a running clock the entire 4th quarter.

Great games!

Current News 09/15

The dance Friday night was super! The kids were well-behaved as usual and I think everyone had a great time. The sixth graders seemed to have the most fun of any of the groups!

Monday the 14th we didn’t have school so that the teachers could go to our annual KCI Conference Teacher In-Service. We had a great motivational speaker to start off with then went to different break-out sessions. There were many different sessions for the teachers to choose from, all aimed at improving our instruction. We all learned a lot!

This week we have several “firsts”. Our first pep rally is Wednesday the 16th beginning at about 2:15. Our first football game is Thursday the 17th at home beginning at 5:00 and our first volleyball game is Saturday at West Platte, 9:00 a.m. Should make for another exciting week!

We aren’t trying to be nosy…but our Clinton County Health Department is asking for our help in tracking illness county wide. When a student is absent, we are supposed to inquire about the type of illness. So if you say your child is sick, please don’t be offended or surprised when we try to get a few more specifics. We thank you for your understanding in this situation.

Just a reminder that Parents are more than welcome to attend any of our events. We often forget to make direct invitations, but please feel free to attend pep rallies, assemblies, dances, etc. We love to have you around, and although your kids might not admit it, they do too!

We held Student Council speeches and elections last Friday. The students did an excellent job presenting their speeches in front of the entire student body. Josh Hartzell was voted President, Duke Allen Vice-President, Emily Brunner Secretary, Dakota Stubler Treasurer and Steven Wilson is the Reporter.

Class Representatives were voted on today. I'll put the results in as soon as we release them.

Last Friday was the end of our first progress period. Teachers were supposed to have grades finished today and we are hoping to send them home Wednesday. Be on the lookout for them! You should also be getting a phone call from the teacher if your child has a D or and F. Be prepared to give us some of your thoughts on how to help your child.

Just FYI we have 182 students in grades 6 -8. 72 in 6th, 57 in 7th and 53 in 8th.

A short week this week and no school Monday the 14th means a short week next week too.

Weekly News 08/31

Our first full week went very well. Thanks to everyone for helping us get off to a great start.

We finally received the majority of our student ID cards last week. We made temporary cards for everyone else. Everyone that earned a color sticker in grades 7 – 8 should have one on his/her card now. This means we can get started with our Renaissance Rewards Program. There is more information about this in the handbook.

As a reminder, we do serve breakfast. We haven’t had a very good participation rate so far. Maybe that just means all of you are eating breakfast at home with your kids. That is good too!

We will soon be looking for some “DOGS”. (Dads Of Great Students) This is a program that gets dads into our schools on a regular basis. Please be on the look out for more information.

Last year our average MAP test scores ranked 7.8 out of 13 conference and area schools. This year our average rank was 5th! More good news for LMS!

We moved our dance from last Friday, the 28th to Friday, September 11 because of a home football game conflict.

To keep more up-to-date and informed about LMS please sign-up to be a follower of this web site. You will then get an e-mail every time we update it. The same is true for our homework blog: http://www.lmshomework.blogspot.com/.
