Winter Band/Choir Concert

The Middle School Band and Choir Winter Concert will be December 16th, 2010 beginning at 7pm in the PAC at Lathrop Middle School.

Performing groups will include: 6th grade band, Musical Mules, 7th/8th grade choir and 7th/8th grade band.

Toy Drive

The LMS staff is hosting a "New Toy Drive" now through December 15th. New toys will be collected by grade level and the grade level that collects the most items will receive the "Christmas Spirit Stick". The Christmas Spirit Stick will be given each year to the class who collects the most items for our drive. This year our goal is 80 new toys or items for our adopted families. If LMS reaches our goal, Mr. Fine will dress as our very own LMS Elf and deliver treats to the winning grade level. Students should bring their new toy donations to their 1st period class and a tally will be posted in the bulletin.

News 11/16/2010

Veteran’s Day Assembly
We had an assembly to honor our veterans last Thursday. About 18 veterans honored us with their presence. We learned about the pledge of allegiance and the history of TAPS. The local VFW Post presented the colors and Ernie Boyd played TAPS as we remembered our fallen heroes.

Basketball
We had our first basketball games last week. All four teams went 1-1 in the North Platte Tournament at Dearborn. We play in the Plattsburg Tournament this week with everyone playing against Lawson on Tuesday, then winners play Friday and teams that lose play on Thursday. Good Luck to all the teams.

Science Program
The Missouri Western sponsored “Bio-Bus” was at LMS last Tuesday presenting to our 8th graders all day long in 90 minute shifts. This is a tour bus that is outfitted with the latest bio-technology equipment. Our 8th grade Science teacher, Sherry Wolf, signed up for this program through Missouri Western. This bus is taken around to area schools and presents to their classes on many Science topics. They will be at our school a couple of times this year.

School on Monday the 22nd
Don’t forget next Monday the 22nd is one of only two times this year that we will have school on a Monday. We will do the one call to remind you at some point this weekend.
